Fli Technology
How Fli Dynamic
De-Spool works
Fli Dynamic De-Spool probe deploys bare optical fibre to capture temperature and acoustic data throughout the wellbore.
The system is made up of three core elements that work together seamlessly to answer the need for fast, reliable, and cost effective data acquisition:
1
Fli Dynamic De-Spool probe
The Fli probe is a compact, single-use tool that deploys bare optical fibre into the well quickly and safely.

2
Optical fibres
- Single Fibre Configuration: supports Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) or Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), offering real-time thermal and acoustic profile with spatial resolutions of up to 1 m at up to 20,000 full well datasets per second.
- Dual Fibre Configuration: enables both DTS and DAS, allowing for the detection of acoustic and temperature signatures from events such as gas breakthrough, fluid flow, and well integrity breaches.
3
Surface acquisition
The Fli surface system is designed for rapid setup, real-time data acquisition, and minimal operational footprint:
- The optical fibre is connected to lightweight interrogators, capable of capturing high-fidelity DTS and DAS data continuously throughout the deployment.
- The interrogator connects to a laptop or tablet running proprietary Fli software, allowing for real-time visualisation, recording, and analysis.
- Data is typically accessible within minutes of deployment and can be streamed for remote monitoring.
Built for versatility
Fli solutions are perfect for a wide range of applications, including:
- Production optimisation
- Well integrity evaluation
- Stimulation monitoring
- Abandonment planning
Its low-impact deployment method also makes Fli Technology suitable for remote and environmentally sensitive locations.
Deployment
in practice
Fli Dynamic De-Spool probe can be deployed into live wells without a rig or heavy intervention equipment. The probe is lowered by hand or a simple hydraulic release, making it ideal for rapid mobilisation and minimal disruption to operations.
In a standard operation:
- A single engineer can deploy the probe in less than an hour.
- Data acquisition begins the second the fibre enters the well.
- Surveys are typically completed in a single shift, depending on well depth and conditions.
